Jodid-ratiopharm® 200 µg tablets
Jodid-ratiopharm® 200 µg is a medicine for the prevention and treatment of thyroid diseases.
Jodid-ratiopharm® 200 µg is used for
Prevention of iodine deficiency (e.g. to prevent goiter in iodine-deficient areas and after removal of iodine-deficient goiter)
Treatment of goiter (diffuse euthyroid goiter) in newborns, children, adolescents and younger adults
Mandatory information:
Jodid-ratiopharm® 200 µg tablets. Active ingredient: potassium iodide. Areas of application: Prevention of iodine deficiency. Treatment of goiter in newborns, children, adolescents and younger adults. Warning: Tablets contain lactose. For risks and side effects, read the package insert and ask your doctor or pharmacist. 9/14
Application
The correct intake and dosage is determined according to the doctor's instructions.
NotesTaking iodine tablets only protects against the absorption of radioactive iodine into the thyroid, not against the effects of other radioactive substances.
The dosage of iodine tablets for iodine blockade depends on age. Children between the ages of three and twelve should take 65 (milligrams) mg of potassium iodide. This corresponds to 325 tablets of Jodid-ratiopharm® 200 µg - thus this medicine is not suitable for iodine blockade. Adults over the age of 45 should not take iodine tablets. Metabolic disorders of the thyroid become more common with increasing age. Such functional autonomy increases the risk of side effects of iodine blockade. In addition, the likelihood of developing thyroid cancer caused by ionizing radiation decreases with age.
